Lenovo Vibe S1 hands-on
Selfies may have started as poorly framed, poorly lit shots in the bathroom mirror, but the genre has pretenses of class these days. The Lenovo Vibe S1 enables bokeh for selfies with its two cameras on the front.
Thank goodness, gone are the days of trying to center your mug in the frame with the back cameras of an HTC One (M8). The Vibe S1 has a higher resolution camera than the M8 to boot – an 8MP camera captures the photo, while a 2MP camera gathers additional information the software uses to create to bokeh effect.
There's no selfie flash though – you'll need a Vibe Xtension selfie flash for those late night self-portraits. At least the Cut Out feature can Photoshop you onto different backgrounds (that'll really make a trip to Paris affordable, if not quite real).
Selfies aside, the Lenovo Vibe S1 is actually a fairly attractive phone with an aluminum frame (and a very glossy plastic back). It has a reasonably-sized 5" 1080p screen and is powered by an octa-core processor inside a MediaTek chipset with 3GB of RAM.
For $300 you also get Android 5.0 Lollipop, a 13MP back camera, 32GB of storage and LTE, not a bad deal really.
