Then definitely Xperia ZL
advanatages
1. Compact size, the smallest 5 inch phone in market even smaller than S4, S3, One, Butterfly
2. IR blaster
3. Dedicated camera shutter key
4. Whiteness and color setting in display setting menu
5. No cover lids on IO ports(micro usb, earphones etc.) and I find that really easy and comfortable to use
6. Slighlty heavier battery 40mAh extra i don't that would help anyway but still is there
IMP: The price, there is a small difference in the price ZL is cheaper
And for me it looks better than glass body of Z but liking the design is a personal choice
Note: Compact size is of great advantage
All else is same in both the phones
ZL gives you better phone in less price as compared to Z

Everything's great except for the battery. But I think it's just normal. Anyway, I bought the HSPA version because here in the Philippines you rarely see places which have LTE connection. Also, a friend told me that LTE drains the battery quite fast.

Not my cup of Tea....
Hope you enjoy the ZL i will be having one soon, very soon I hope..
Enjoy it and post some updates of the Battery life, thats one of my main concerns.. I am not a heavy user.

I have zl .....grip of zl is solid...zl is little bit heavier from z and I love my zl but if u will compare both device than z looks cooler coz of glass finish on back.....Its my opinion
1. IR is in zl and not in z
2. I know it is having bigger battery but backup is same... If u dont believe check youtube videos
3. Indication light on zl are awesome.... colors of indication light change automatically
cool and solid phone...go for xperia zl

ZL is cheaper than Z, not as you stated..
I have been searching and the ZL is surely my choice, just waiting for the baby to land in my area.... :-)

1. Z is bigger than zl
2. Zl is dust and water proof but zl is not
3. Speaker sound is low on z coz it is dust and water proffer
4. Both have 13 megapixels
5. Camera button is not there in z but present in zl
6. Battery backup are almost same.
7. Price of zl is higher than z
8. Back of z is glass finish nd looks good but it is very sleepery.... In zl back is rubber finish so grip on phone is very good and non sleepery
