Spotify adds timestamps for sharing, improves Canvas

Yordan, 11 May 2021

Spotify has announced it is making it even easier for you to share tracks or podcasts at a particular moment. The streaming platform is adding a new option in the Share button which will allow listeners to share at the current playtime, and receivers will get a link that will send them straight to the point.

Additionally the Swedish company is improving Canvas. Canvas is a feature that adds video-art showcases to static song pages, which bring a whole new listening experience when the device is not tucked away in a pocket or on a desk.

Up until now, these visualizations were easily shared on Instagram Stories only, but Spotify is now adding Snapchat in the mix. On top of that, there will be previews within the Spotify app, allowing you to see how your shared track look like before they head to the actual app.

There will also be an improved layout with a better easy-to-view grid for all the other messaging and social media sharing destinations.

Interesting update for the Canvas, but I'm not that interested in the timestamp sharing. I never share any song with anyone in the first place, so I won't be bothered with the latter.
