Sprint's Samsung Galaxy S4 models are getting Lollipop

08 May, 2015

Starting today, if you own a Samsung Galaxy S4 bought from Sprint, you're due to receive the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

This is now rolling out for both versions of the Galaxy S4 that have been sold by Sprint - the one with support for the carrier's Spark high-speed network, as well as the one that doesn't support it.

The Spark-capable model is also receiving the Factory Reset Protection feature alongside the general update to Android 5.0. The new software version for this device is L720TVPUCOD2.

On the other hand, the older, non-Spark compatible Galaxy S4 is getting software version L720VPUGOD2. In this case, only Samsung's interpretation of Lollipop is included, complete with the colorful TouchWiz redesign.

As always, do note that such over-the-air rollouts are staged, so it may take a few days until the download notification pops up on your particular handset.

If you want to force things to move faster, you could try manually checking for the update by going to Settings > More > System Update > Update Samsung Software > Check Now.
