AnonD-30530, 16 Nov 2011The best phone I've ever had. I don't know why it isn't so ... moreIndeed. I still have it and it is running great especially nearing it's ICS update. I find no reason to upgrade even after seeing the beautiful Galaxy Nexus which I like but not worth it with lack of Hardware keyboard and approaching quad core procs. The G3 must and have to be superior. Recently HTC has been disappointing in the last year or two with repetitive plastic phones with same designs and mediocre internal features but the G3 MUST have some sort of dual or quad core proc, 300+ ppi display, NFC and all the goodness we see on the pure Google phones. Can;t wait for a thin, slider, rugged, G3.

The best phone I've ever had. I don't know why it isn't so famous. Its screen sharpness is even better than 2011's phones (i.e. xperia play, I compared them), I'm amazed and very happy. If a "G3" appears, I'll definetely buy it.

This is by far the best phone I've owned so far. I love some of my older stuff, granted most of them were non-smart phones (Samsung D900 still my all time favorite). None the less mine is over a year old, and it's still going strong. I love how it's process may only be a 800Mhz it's still very potent and you don't run into many issues with it. This thing is tough too, mine is banged up a big, but having it in a metal casing vs. plastic like everything really makes a difference. It's a heavy thing though, but man is it good. I love this I really do, I've though about upgrading but I can't part with it. Mine is all stock, and the Gingerbread update I got a while back ago for it made such a huge in it's overall performance. All in all if you can still find one, I'd say get one, it won't let you down. Yeah there is stuff way better now, but I think overall this is one of the best out there. Considering it'll run with any of the 1Ghz single core devices (i.e. Galaxys, Milestone/Moto Driods).

Groh G2, 26 Oct 2011I still using my G2...and i love it!!!! i hoping, there w... moreAn IceCreamSandwich update is more than probable if you're rooted. Its possible if you're not. In either case, hardware constraints won't be a viable reason why it shouldn't as the Nexus S is guaranteed to receive the update. The G2 is in the same bracket technically as they have very similar specs.
Ultimately, its up to T-mobile show some love.. Your best bet would be to root and wait for the inevitable CM9 from CyanogenMOD. Short of that, you're rolling the dice with that matter.

Great phone, still have it in nearly new condition. I see all these phones coming out and none are worth the upgrade and not because I'm still under 2-year contract. Like mention below, the most customized phone yet, though I have yet to modify and strengthen the spring on the z-hinge. Awesome device, though my next may be a Nokia with Symbian or Windows, some platform with real PIM functions and Business environment, no, not a Blackberry.

So here we are 9 months into ownership of the HTC G2. We've seen rollercoasters on the dev scene but at this point this device is one of the most hackable pieces of hardware on the market perhaps second only to the Samsung Captivate. MiUI, CM6-7, HTC Flyer Rom, Bliss port, Virtuous Rom's (Unity Sense 3.0, Doubleshot mt4g port, G-Lite ASOP, Vrom2.0 Optimized Sense), and a number of different skins for all of the above make this device highly customizable.

The Scorpion processor is still quite capable in the world of single core system on a chips, handily pulling down 3K+ benchmarks when overclocked to 1ghz depending on the rom.

The only major setbacks to this device is the lack of RAM, thus making more system intensive roms such as Unity be somewhat laggy, and the fact that many shipped with crappy stock springs, thus necessitating my needing to void my manufacturer warranty to fix a manufacturer defect. Great going there guys especially when I wasn't allowed an exchange due to a defect that you shipped. From what I heard this policy was later changed, but by that point I'd already fixed the problem myself.

Terribly small stock battery but the Evo Shift battery fits as a drop in replacement so that can be overlooked.

Now since this device has been EOLed and it wasn't terribly popular on the market, used versions have dropped to sub $200 depending on your area. As a secondhand device to replace your busted old hardware, or to tide you over till your next upgrade: look no further. There is no better querty keyboard device on the Tmobile market save the MT4gSlide. But hey, that was just released and is expensive as all get out.

Don't want to root phone and want qwerty choose g2 want bigger screen choose vibrant, but you will need to root it because touch wiz suc*s. ofcourse rooted g2 is a beast, and if you choose good rom and oc procesor you get close performance to sgs2 (procesor)
