T-Mobile did not issue SIMs that restricted what network type these phones could connect; rather the 3G.5 HSPA network was shut down in 2022.
This phone is still barely usable if you have a legacy SIM on T-Mobile's 2G GSM network to be shuttered later in 2024, but the coverage is extremely poor.

Wojtekjurkiewicz71, 05 Mar 2023It only has 3GWell, these days it only works with 3G but when it first came out it had support for 4G through T-Mobile. Eventually T-Mobile got rid of their support for older devices to be able to use 4G and therefore broke a lot of phones.
The Sidekick 4G did in fact support 4G but it got cut off at the knees when T-Mobile made the decision to remove 4G support from the older SIM card devices. This results in a lot of older phones, tablets, and other devices unable to access newer 4G networks. Supposedly this was done to optimize their network but in a lot of ways was a big F U to a lot of budget subscribers.

I would suggest you take the time to upgrade to a custom rom, the phone will probably be more stable and useable

@ KIBI , The handset is lockd with tmobile, so u need to unlock it..then only it will work with other networks.
