TCL expands smartphone lineup with 20 Pro 5G, 20L, 20L+ and 20S

TCL kickstarted its TCL 20 lineup at the end of last year and the company is now expanding the series with three new additions - the 20L, 20L+ and 20 Pro 5G. The company says that the displays are what defines them. After all, TCL has a lot of experience making all sorts of screens.

Let's start with the more interesting of the bunch, which is the TCL 20 Pro 5G. It has a stylish curved display featuring a 6.67 FHD+ AMOLED panel. Thanks to an additional Pixelworks chip, the display can do real-time SDR to HDR conversion of videos. The screen is also fine-tuned and can achieve an average dE2000 of less than 1.0, which is to say excellent color accuracy. The chip along with the so-called NXTVISION 2.0 allow for a real-time AIO Visual Enhancement tool that can better the picture quality of the displayed content. The heart of the phone is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 750G.

The main camera on the back has a 48MP sensor with OIS and f/1.8 aperture and the 20 Pro 5G also offers a 16MP f/2.4 ultrawide snapper with 123-degree field of view. You also get a 5MP f/2.4 macro camera and 2MP depth sensor for portraits and interestingly enough, there's no camera bump. On the front, we have a 32MP f/2.45 selfie camera.

A 4,500 mAh battery makes things work, which can be charged wirelessly at 15W. That's a first for TCL. The available colors are Moondust Gray and Marine Blue.

The TCL 20L is built around a 6.67-inch FHD+ IPS LCD without cutouts of any sort, which is rather refreshing in 2021. The Snapdragon 662 is on board paired with 4GB of RAM and a choice between 64 or 128GB of internal storage.

It carries a 48MP f/2.0 main camera in combination with an 8MP f/2.2 snapper and 2MP f/2.4 macro unit. The fourth camera on the back is just for depth sensing.

A 5,000 mAh battery provides the juice supporting fast charging. The fingerprint is side-mounted and doubles as a power key. The available colors are Eclipse Black and Luna Blue

There's also the TCL 20S, but this one is just a 20L+ with a different chipset for the North American market.

The next on the list is the TCL 20L+ and as the name implies, it comes with slightly beefier specs than the non-plus model. It has a 64MP f/1.8 main camera, 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage that can be expanded with a 1TB microSD card. The rest of the cameras are identical, so are the chipset, display and battery.

The available colors are Milky Way Gray and North Star Blue. Just like the rest from the family, the 20L+ also ships with Android 11 out of the box. TCL 20 Pro 5G announced with curved OLED, 20L and 20L+ tag along

The three handsets are available starting now - the 20 Pro 5G asks €549, the 20L+ goes for €269 and the 20L sells for €229.

Finally TCL unveiled the 20S, which is just a 20L+ with a different chipset for the North American market. However the replacement chipset wasn't revealed, so we expect this one to get its own announcement later on.

TCL seriously needs to sell BlackBerry mobile and Alcatel mobile to other companies or two brands will surely die just like LG mobile... TCL not even using the 2 brands to make new models but instead they just focus on same TCL brand smartphones.
