The DJI Osmo Action 6 is here with variable aperture and a 1/1.1" type sensor
DJI's latest action camera, the Osmo Action 6, is now official. Its headline features are the big 1/1.1" type sensor, the variable aperture ranging from f/2.0 to f/4.0, and the four-hour battery life from its 1,950 mAh battery.
The camera has a 155-degree native field of view, and the new sensor offers up to 13.5 stops of dynamic range. It records in 4K at 120fps in 4:3, and the company promises better low-light quality thanks to the bigger sensor. SuperNight mode clearly captures 4K video at 60fps in low light conditions. DJI's 10-bit D-Log M color system preserves highlight and shadow detail for greater flexibility in post. The Osmo Action 6 has an on-screen D-Log M preview for real-time color and exposure monitoring.
The new 4K Custom mode lets you shoot first and crop later in post, since the sensor is square. So there's no need to position the camera either vertically or horizontally. You can also get 2x lossless zoom at 4K resolution, and of course there's an entire on-board stabilization system too.
The camera is waterproof up to 20m without a case and 60m with the waterproof case sold separately. Its built-in color temperature sensor ensures true-to-life underwater colors, and the water pressure gauge records dive data.
The battery charges to 80% in 22 minutes, and there's also 50GB of built-in storage. The main screen is 2.5" with 400x712 resolution, the secondary one is 1.46" with 342x342 resolution, both supporting 800-nit peak brightness.
The Osmo Action 6 is priced at €379 in its Standard Combo, which includes the camera and Osmo Action Extreme Battery Plus (1,950 mAh), Osmo Dual-Direction Quick-Release Adapter Mount, Osmo Action Curved Adhesive Base, Osmo Locking Screw, USB-C to USB-C PD Cable, and Osmo Action Anti-Slip Pad.
Or you can get the Adventure Combo for €479. This gets you everything in the Standard Combo plus two additional Osmo Action Extreme Battery Plus, one additional Osmo Dual-Direction Quick-Release Adapter Mount, one additional Osmo Locking Screw, the Osmo Multifunctional Battery Case 3, and Osmo 1.5m Extension Rod.

I wonder if they fixed horizon stabilization issues. In Osmo Action 4, horizon tends to skew and stay locked in that skewed position for some time before it levels back corectly (or skews to the other side). I'll wait for reviews that show thi...

Watched 5 reviews. Barely an upgrade over 5 Pro, in terms of image quality. Easy pass. Wait for the next version.
