The featherweight Tecno Megabook S14 has a Snapdragon X Elite chip, optional GPU dock

Tecno is on a roll – after unveiling the Camon 40 series and AI smart glasses, the company now turns its attention to laptops. Meet the new Tecno Megabook S14, an ultra-portable 14” laptop that weighs only 899g (1.98lbs).

That’s not the only interesting fact about the S14 – there is a version of it powered by the Snapdragon X Elite (X1E-80-100). That’s a 12-core chip (with custom Qualcomm CPU design) that runs at up to 3.4GHz with multiple cores active or up to 4.0GHz with two cores active. The Adreno GPU offers up to 3.8 TFLOPS of performance, while the Hexagon NPU can go up to 45 TOPS for AI tasks (more on that in a bit).

If you prefer to stick to x86, the Megabook S14 is also available with first and second generation Intel Core Ultra chips from the 5 and 7 series (255H, 225H, 155H and 125H). The laptops come with LPDDR5 RAM and a 512GB SSD (NVMe, PCIe Gen 4). Whether you pick ARM or x86, the laptop runs Windows 11.

The laptop is equipped with a 14” OLED display with 2,800 x 1,600px resolution running at 120Hz. This is Tecno’s first OLED laptop. A light sensor is available to automatically adjust the brightness. There are two 2W DTS:X Ultra speakers on board for audio.

The S14 measures 313 x 214 x 14.2mm and weighs 899g as mentioned above. This is with a 50Wh battery, which charges at up to 65W (19V/3.42A) over USB-C. Tecno promises battery life of up to 16 hours on a single charge. A few other things to mention include Wi-Fi 6E connectivity and a fingerprint reader for secure unlock.

Here’s something else that is interesting about the Megabook S14 – Tecno will offer an External Graphics Dock with a “powerful Nvidia graphics card”, which will accelerate gaming and content creation tasks, but that’s all we know for now (no GPU model, not even generation).

Tecno also built its first AI model intended to run on-device. Additionally, the Ella AI assistant can do image search, create albums automatically, transcribe a recorded meeting (offline, of course) and even help you create PowerPoint presentations.

LOL there is litterary nothing wrong with Intel or Nvidia.

It works for normal everyday use... office/school work, etc. I am not sure how well it works for audio/video, graphic/photography and other content production/editing work that needs specific applications. I am not a gamer so I don't know how ...
