Early adopters of One UI 4.0 on Galaxy Z Flip3 and Z Fold3 report major issues

Peter, 08 December 2021

Samsung started rolling out the One UI 4.0 update to Galaxy Z Flip3 and Z Fold3 owners in South Korea a couple of days ago, but users are reporting a variety of issues with the new version. It seems that Samsung has temporarily pulled the update while it investigates the issues.

Said issues range from bricking the phone or sending it into recovery mode to reduced performance and screen flicker. Some users have also reported issues with the camera app and that the Dual Messenger feature isn’t working with some apps.

It is not clear when the update rollout will be resumed (or when it will be expanded to other countries). Samsung employees are talking to affected consumers to try and help them troubleshoot the issues.

Well samsung has discontinued all other phones on their site so they will be trying to master these fold and flip phones from now on. Seems like these kinds of phones are now our future.

The beta versions has been out testing for months. Major issues like bricking should have been ironed in the stable version. Samsung just shot itself in the foot this time.

Looks like Oneplus is vying for that title too. The Oneplus 9 and 9 Pro are wrecked after update to Android 12.
