The Huawei Watch is getting ready for a launch in the US and Europe

Victor, 02 September, 2015

Back in March, Huawei unveiled its take on the new wearable device trend and it showed a lot of potential. That might actually be an understatement, as the Huawei Watch is a truly gorgeous device that has managed to masterfully blend traditional watch design with modern technology. The smartwatch not only looks visually stunning, but also surpasses most other Android Wear devices on the market, clearly outdoing competitors like LG and Samsung.

The Huawei Watch definitely captivated fans at MWC 2015, but since then the premium watch has persistently managed to elude markets, release dates and end users almost entirely. Now, after the long tease, the Huawei Watch is finally coming. Starting today, you can pre-order a unit in the US at Amazon, the Google Store, BestBuy and GetHuawei.com with shipping scheduled for September 17. Canada should get it by the end of the month.

Europe is also included in the road map and the watch will be available in Germany, France, Spain and Italy later this month. The UK, Japan and UAE will follow shortly with even more markets planned down the road. So, we are definitely looking at a global roll out.

Designed first and foremost as a watch, the Huawei Watch is unlike any smartwatch available today,

This is how Zhiqiang Xu, President of Huawei Device USA describes the Huawei Watch and it is definitely not far-fetched. The device is truly premium with a cold-forged 316L stainless steel body construction and a two-layer sapphire glass option for extra protection. As for the styling, the Huawei Watch truly looks and feels like a proper luxury watch. It also comes with quite a lot of customization options, all of which elegant and refined.

Initially, six models will be available to cater to a broad audience of buyers. But style does come at a price, as the Huawei ranges from $349 all the way to $799 – a pretty penny for a smartwatch, yet not that outlandish for a high-end watch and still a lot less than an Apple Watch Edition. In Europe these translate to a pricing ranging between €399 to €699, respectively.

Watch Body Band Pricing
Stainless Steel Black Leather $349
Stainless Steel Steel Link Bracelet $399
Stainless Steel Stainless Steel Mesh $399
Black DLC-coated Stainless Steel Black-plated Link Bracelet $449
Rose Gold-plated Stainless Steel Alligator-pressed Brown Leather $699
Rose Gold-plated Stainless Steel Rose Gold-plated Link Bracelet $799

But the Huawei Watch is more than just a looker. It's got the best round watch display on the market, you will be hard pressed to find anything better than the 1.4 inch AMOLED display of the Huawei Watch. It has a resolution of 400x400 pixels and 286 ppi.

The unit runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC and boots the latest version of Android Wear (1.3). Google's OS will utilize the watch's gyroscope, accelerometer, PPG heart rate sensor and barometer. It even has Wi-Fi and can work untethered if need be.

The 300 mAh battery can easily get you through a day and a half, perhaps even two and fast charging is quite efficient achieving 80% battery charge in just 45 minutes and 30 more to a full charge. Last, but definitely not least, it recently became clear that Android Wear is no longer confined only to Android devices. iOS users can also consider the Huawei Watch, giving the Apple Watch a run for its money.

A joke for 2017: "For the first time we done another innovation and it is the round watch. We patented it and now we are going to sue anyone who want to copy us. We opened a case for Robert Dudley (1533-1588 AD) who used such innovative des...
