Xiaomi Mijia Quartz Watch debuts with affordable price tag

Ro, 13 July 2018

The Mijia brand, part of Xiaomi's ecosystem, just got a new member today called Mijia Quartz Watch. It's essentially a hybrid watch - combining the classic looks with limited smart functions.

It should be a perfect fit for those looking for some extra smart features on top of their classic-looking watch because charging every other day is too bothersome. Anyway, the watch features a minimalist design and measures 40mm in diameter. It has a classic two-hand dial and a smaller dial beneath.

The small dial shows the number of steps as the device carries a pedometer. It adjusts the time automatically, supports world time, it has interval and call notifications as well as an alarm clock. With the hybrid lacking a proper display you can set those up via the smartphone companion app.

The body is waterproof at up to 30 meters and uses a CR2430 battery to support the low-power Bluetooth 4.0 module. The Mijia Quartz comes in three colors - white, gray and black. The latter sports the so-called CD pattern so different textures can be seen under direct sunlight.

The price of the watch is just CNY 349 ($52) making it one of the most affordable hybrid smartwatches out there. It will start selling on July 17 through Xiaomi Mall, Xiaomi Youpin and Tmall Xiaomi Flagship Store.

The previous comment isn't wrong though: it looks like what Withings/Nokia will do if they would update their Activite Pop watch design. Although I still agree with you about the significant price difference. I hope the reduction in price based...
