The new Apple TV gets unboxed ahead of launch

The new Apple TV isn't shipping to customers till late October, but YouTuber Andru Edwards was able to get his hands on one for a quick unboxing.

The box doesn't contain anything we don't already know. There is the new Apple TV with the Siri Remote. The remote, as you may know, will have Siri only in select countries, and in other countries the Apple TV will instead ship with a standard Apple TV Remote, which is otherwise identical to the Siri Remote except instead of Siri you only get standard search functionality.

Other than that there is a power cable, Lightning to USB cable to charge the remote, and documentation.

The new Apple TV still has roughly the same dimensions as the previous one except for the increased height. It also has a new USB Type-C connector on the back for servicing although Apple does not provide a cable. The HDMI has been updated to 1.4 standard to support 1080p60 video along with 7.1 channel surround sound. The Ethernet, however, is still 10/100BASE-T, so no gigabit support.

The new Apple TV is priced at $149 for the 32GB and $199 for the 64GB.

Yup, a bit of Catch 22 all round. Developers waiting for demand, demand depending on developers. Hopefully, one runaway hit will make others follow. The hardware is there (with some limitations), but good potential nevertheless.

That will depend on sales. Also developers probably wont be that interetsed because of cost versus size of the market. You will get a lot of mobile games releasing. Storage size might be another factor
