The new iPad Pro OLED tablets have grainy displays, multiple users report

Apple launched its first tablets with OLED displays, and it certainly brings a huge upgrade in terms of display quality. However, some early adopters are reporting issues with the panel. Multiple posts on Reddit reveal a strange grainy issue.

The opinions come mostly from user forums, and neither Apple nor Samsung Display have addressed it officially yet. The reports say that the grainy effect is visible from up close, and it is really bothersome for artists.

Speculations are this might be an issue with a misalignment of the two parts of what Apple calls "tandem OLED display". Some users suggested it might be the so-called mura effect that is present on all OLED panels, including smartphones but is visible on the iPad because of the relatively lower 264 ppi on the 11" iPad Pro and 13" iPad Pro.

This browser does not support the video element.

There is a high chance that this is the same issue that plagued some Galaxy S24 Ultra units earlier this year. Samsung essentially tried to say it is a feature, not a bug, but eventually issued a fix. We'll be monitoring how Apple approaches this and we'll make sure to carefully check if our review unit behaves the same way.

Hello! Do you know if there is any way of knowing if the device is from the new bach?

Only the first batches had issues. Samsung replaced those devices, and now, there aren't any issues with the new phones.
