The rugged Doogee S68 Pro has two panes of GG4 over its screen, three cameras on its back
While many smartphones today are water resistant, few are properly rugged – certainly not in the way that the Doogee S68 Pro is. The phone is launching today and since it’s a holiday (11.11 aka Singles’ Day), the phone costs $200 right now (and will be $220 tomorrow).
The sides of the phone are made of titanium-aluminum alloy and its corners have rubber shock absorbers. The alloy chassis extends behind the screen, giving it support in the event of a drop.
And get this – Doogee used two layers of Gorilla Glass 4 to make the display even more resilient. The display itself features a 5.9” IPS LCD panel with 1,080 x 2,280px resolution. All told, the phone is IP68 dust and water resistant (1.5m for 30 min), it can survive drops from 1.5m as well as extreme temperatures (-40°C to 60°C).
The S68 Pro features a surprisingly well-armed triple camera on its back. The 21MP main camera is joined by an 8MP telephoto shooter, plus a 130° ultra wide-angle cam (which can do macros from 3cm away). These are all Sony sensors, by the way.
The 16MP selfie camera (80° FoV) lives in a notch in the display and like the trio on the back it leverages the AI hardware of the chipset for processing.
That would be a MediaTek Helio P70, a 12nm chipset with four Cortex-A73 cores (plus four A53) and a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. The phone comes with 6GB of RAM plus 128GB worth of Samsung UFS 2.0 flash storage chips. Android 9 Pie will greet you at first boot.
The 6,300mAh battery is also part of what makes the Doogee S68 Pro a surviver. It’s good for 80 hours of talk time, 22 hours of gaming or 49 hours of video. The USB-C port supports 24W fast charging. Alternatively, you can use the 10W wireless charging to top up the battery and then share its charge with other gadgets thanks to the 5W reverse wireless charging.
Other tidbits include NFC support (including payments), a fingerprint reader on the back (with face unlock as an alternative) and support for the four major global positioning systems.

I have this phone and it performs very well. The only things that let it down is the lack of a headphone jack, very rare, and very brief artifacts or glitches when scrolling through Facebook or watching videos and no word on an android 10 update. I c...
