vivo V29 makes official debut, again
While we’ve been tracking the vivo V29e teasers building up to its unveiling in India, the vivo V29 beat it to the finish line. In fact, the V29 will be available in more than 39 markets, including India, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Turkey, Mexico and the selected European markets.
Of course, the phone made its debut in Europe earlier this month, but the announcement was lacking in details – particularly details about its price and availability. We guess vivo wanted to wait until it’s ready to launch the phone in multiple markets simultaneously.
Here’s some bad news – the pricing and availability will be announced per region. However, only the EU sub-site of vivo.com is has a page for the V29, all the others still have nothing to show. And even the EU page hasn’t been updated with launch details.
Let’s have a closer look at the details we do have so far. The vivo V29, like other V-series phones, is focused on affordable camera performance. It has a 50MP main camera with a fairly large 1/1.56” sensor (1.0µm pixels) and OIS, plus the Aura Light – a 15.6mm (0.6”, the largest in vivo’s history) LED ring light that is intended for more even lighting of portrait photos. The 50MP selfie camera has wide-angle (22mm) lens with autofocus and two LED lights of its own. Flipping around to the back again for a moment, there is an 8MP ultra wide camera too.
The phone is equipped with a curved 6.78” AMOLED display, a 120Hz 10-bit panel, with 1,260 x 2,800px, so between FHD+ and QHD+. It is powered by the Snapdragon 778G+ with 8/12GB of RAM and 256GB storage, plus a 4,600mAh battery with 80W fast wired charging (1-50% in 18 minutes, according to the official numbers).
One new thing that we learned about the V29 is that it will have an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. The phone will be available in Peak Blue, Starry Purple and Velvet Red and Noble Black, each with its own special finish for the rear glass to bring it to life (e.g. Velvet Red has a color-changing effect brought on by UV light). Note that we have seen images only of the Blue and Black colorways for now.
