Three new Androids and two new PocketPCs from Acer

The MWC is well into it already, and next on our list are five new Acer phones that just came out of their hideout. Three Androids and two Windows Mobile 6.5.3 phones are a lot to talk about, so let's not waste any more time and jump straight in.

Acer beTouch E400

The Acer beTouch series gets two new additions. Starting from the top, there's the Acer beTouch E400 running Android 2.1 Eclair on a Qualcomm 7227 600MHz CPU - quite a popular processor lately.

The Acer beTouch E400 measures 115 x 59.3 x 12 mm, weighs 120 grams and here's what's inside: 512MB ROM and 256MB RAM, a 3.2MP camera, Wi-Fi b/g, Bluetooth, GPS, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microSD card slot. There's also quad-band GSM/EDGE and tri-band 3G with HSDPA/HSUPA.

The screen is a 3.2-incher of HVGA resolution and the Android UI has gotten some tweaks from Acer. The Acer beTouch E400 comes with DocumentsToGo preinstalled (for office document viewing and editing) and the nemoPlayer we saw in our Acer Liquid review. The Acer beTouch E400 promises HD video streaming from YouTube.

The Acer beTouch E400 will be available come April.

Acer beTouch E110

The Acer beTouch E110 is the smaller bro of the E400. There's 2.8" worth of QVGA screen on the E110, the CPU runs at 416MHz with 256MB RAM, and the Android version is 1.5.

The Acer beTouch E110 keeps the 3.2MP camera, GPS, Bluetooth, microSD card slot and the 3.5 mm audio jack, but there's no Wi-Fi. The dual-band 3G offers 3.6Mbps HSDPA and the battery is 1500mAh.

The Acer beTouch E110 will start selling March in black and dark blue.

Acer neoTouch P400

Moving into Windows Mobile territory, the two new Acer neoTouch phones run Windows Mobile 6.5.3. The Acer neoTouch P400 is the PocketPC counterpart of the beTouch E400 and as the equal numbers suggest, the specs are quite similar.

The screen is a 3.2" HVGA unit and you get the same Qualcomm 7227 600MHz CPU and 256MB RAM/512MB ROM. The connectivity matches too - quad-band GSM/EDGE, tri-band 3G, Wi-Fi b/g, Bluetooth, GPS, microSD card slot and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Acer neoTouch P400

It should come as no great surprise that the camera on the back of the Acer neoTouch P400 is a 3.2MP snapper. The Office support has long been a staple for WinMo, so we shouldn't even mention it. The P400 comes with Windows Marketplace integration and Microsoft Direct Push service for push email.

You can expect the Acer neoTouch P400 in May.

Acer neoTouch P300

Now, if you expected the Acer neoTouch P300 to be like the E110, you're wrong. The P300 has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 3.2" WQVGA screen and Wi-Fi. The CPU is a classic - Qualcomm 7225 at 528MHz with 256MB RAM/512MB ROM.

The Acer neoTouch P300 doesn't skimp on connectivity - quad-band GSM/EDGE and 7.2Mbps HSDPA-enabled 3G, with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS of course. There's a 3.5mm audio jack and a microSD card slot too.

This one takes typing seriously - the hardware QWERTY keyboard has illuminated keys and the Microsoft Office suite means the Acer neoTouch P300 will never leave you in the dark when you have work to do.

The Acer neoTouch P300 will be available in March.

Acer Liquid e

Other than the updated OS version, the Acer Liquid e doesn't differ much from the original Acer Liquid. Or should we say at all. Ah, well, they updated the OS to the latest available, which counts for something, right? Maybe not enough to launch a whole new version, but anyway.
