TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra leaks with Snapdragon Wear 4100+

Enrique, 24 September 2021

There are a couple of interesting developments going on with TicWatch smartwatches. First let's start with the sighting of an unreleased TicWatch Pro 3 variant. In a recent video posted by Italian YouTuber Andrea Galeazzi, the host holds the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS to the camera.

We've not seen this "Ultra" model of the TicWatch Pro 3 GPS yet. It is said to run the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ Platform, a slightly updated chip that's slightly more efficient than the non 'plus' version. It has a new co-processor that uses less power when using the always-on display feature in Wear OS.

The presenter doesn't say much about the smartwatch in the video, he only shows the box to the camera. Aside from mentioning an updated chip, we can see the watch on the box has a slightly different appearance in the bezel which is slimmer than the Pro 3, and it has a less angular appearance.

Less than 24 hours after this video was posted, separate reports pointed out that Mobvoi quietly changed the listings for both the TicWatch Pro 3 GPS and TicWatch E3 on its own store and on Amazon to reflect that they were powered by the updated Snapdragon Wear 4100+, the same updated Platform that Fossil's Gen 6 smartwatches are running.

Mobvoi hasn't officially announced these changes, but it would seem that the company's newer inventory may actually contain the new chipset. Granted, the change won't be too noticeable as the change between SoCs is incremental.

We are still curious about the "Ultra" variant spotted in the video above. Does this mean there will be a separate model for markets outside of the US or will Mobvoi sell both the Pro 3 and Pro 3 Ultra side by side? We've reached out to Mobvoi for clarification.

The only advantage of 4100+ processor over the 4100 is less battery consumption on AOD display. But what's the point on a TicWatch Pro that its main selling point is the secondary lcd screen with the 3 days battery efficiency...??

No, the 5100 is not out. There were references to SW5100 in some code, found in August, but there's currently no chip available by that name. https://9to5google.com/2021/08/03/snapdragon-wear-5100-seen-in-qualcomm-code/
