T-Mobile announces 5G capacity upgrades ahead of Super Bowl in Tampa, FL

On Tuesday, T-Mobile’s President of Technology over at T-Mobile announced via Twitter that the carrier has upgraded its 5G capacity in Tampa, Florida in anticipation of the city’s hosting of the Super Bowl 55 this year. The major sporting event will take place this Sunday February 7 at the Raymond James Stadium where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will take on the Kansas City Chiefs.

Even though the ongoing pandemic has limited travel between borders, there will be 22,000 attendees (according to CNBC at a venue normally able to hold more than 65,000 spectators so tourism in the city is expected as people flock to the coastal Florida city.

T-Mobile is upgrading 5G capacity to prominent areas of Tampa including the Water Street downtown development, Julian B. Lnae Park, and on Tampa’s Riberwalk. Hyde Park, Ybor City, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and Dade City will see the new spectrum light up as well. T-Mobile’s mid-band rollout includes spectrum acquired from Sprint on the 2.5GHz frequency.

T-Mobile deployed its rull range of 5G connectivity at the Raymond James Stadium. Low and mid-band spectrum, along with mmWave 5G. The latter is only supported by a small number of T-Mobile branded phones, the last of which was seemingly the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G.

Like subsequent years, T-Mobile will advertise during the Super Bowl. This year, a 30-secont commercial spot will run $5.5 million according to Bloomberg.

That's why I said I hope. Lol. The Xperia Pro zones with mmWave and doesn't have to be purchased from Verizon. mmWave is just an additional antenna added to the phones (hence why not many care to carry it).

Sony hasn't supported North America in a while. They've been selling "5G" phones as "4G" in the US because they don't have the right bands. Band 260/261 and 71 are super rare together. I'm guessing they ...
