T-Mobile G2 is now on pre-order, launches on 6 October

24 September, 2010

Starting today T-Mobile G2 is available on pre-order online for 200 US dollars on 2-year contract. T-Mobile will end taking pre-orders on 4 October and the phone will be shipped on 6 October.

T-Mobile G2 packs a 3.7-inch capacitive WVGA touchscreen, a Qualcomm MSM 7230 800MHz processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage, 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and 720p video recording, all-round connectivity package (3G with HSPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, microUSB slot, microSD slot) and a sliding-out full QWERTY keyboard. G2 will run on latest Android OS v2.2 Froyo and will benefit from the Swype text input. It’s also got an optical trackpad. The only thing that’s missing from the G2 specs sheet is the FM radio.

Some of you may still be concerned about the 800MHz-clocked processor, but it seems there is no need. The video above shows G2 gives better results in Quadrant benchmark than the 1GHz Nexus One CPU.

In case you want a contract-free T-Mobile G2, you will have to pay 500 US dollars. All prices apply for existing T-Mobile customers.

You can pre-order T-Mobile G2 online here or through the selected T-Mobile Retail Stores and Customer Care.
