Top Samsung Mobile executive Kevin Packingham departs

Kevin Packingham, who you may remember from several media events introducing new Galaxy smartphones and phablets, has left Samsung. The details surrounding his departure are unknown.

As early as Tuesday, Packingham's departure was announced internally. While Samsung Mobile spokeswoman Ashley Wimberly declined to clarify whether his departure was voluntary, she made the following official statement:

Kevin Packingham has departed Samsung Mobile. We thank Kevin for his contributions and wish him well in his future endeavors.

Packingham was instrumental in the release of several Galaxy flagships, most notably the Samsung Galaxy S III, where he was successfully able to negotiate its release on all major US carriers, enabling it to compete successfully against the iPhone 4S.
