The phone's software is very sluggish. response to keypresses in menus is NOT instant. Far too many confirmation screens. For example "Pin number entered correctly. Press OK to continue". "English input has been selected. Press OK to continue." These unnecessary keypresses in addition to the sluggish response time makes the phone time consuming to use.
Cannot rename address book categories. Must keep the defaults. Also annoying.
Would not buy this phone again if locked. ONly plus was I bought it from Vodafone (Softbank) Japan, and they do not unlock the phones for use with an overseas provider. (They had shopowners arrested and charged for unlocking their phones, whereas apparently vodafone australia will themselves unlock your phone for free).

this phone is probably one of the biggest phones i'd ever seen. i bought it off ebay for $300 and sold it back. it's not worth it. there's plenty of other phones twice as small that could do twice as more as this phone that are out there.

Thats business! U can only play Mp3s that are downloaded straight from vodafone's wapsite...try converting it to mp4 use iTunes if u don't have any converter, its free and super simple

          >>to the moron

This phone is better than nokia, samsung, moto or SE
Its functions are more advance, and by the way, Sharp is Better than this phone!

I'm from Vietnam too, all Toshiba phones can play mp3 now and you have to install new mp3 player.I've just bought Toshiba 803 and enjoy mp3 function properly and greatly.
If you cannot install software by yourself, just bring it to mobile shop.

I'd buy one Toshiba 904T in Vietnam.
Most of Funtions is good, camera is excellent and I like it. But I don't understand why my phone can't see and can't reading mp3 file, it's can read and play .amr only. That't reason why my phone is not mp3 Player.
Anyone can help me, tell me about that problem. How should I do now?

Thanhk you very much for your reply.
              Regard.

It is better than the boring Sharp phones. Still, it is not comparable with the other Nokia, Moto or Samsung, but it does something hard on the OS. Unlike Sharp, keep putting outdated CGS screen and Casio CCD len on the phone and pretending a high class product will finally go to the end.

Well, my dad had the 902T, its pretty similar to this one but i have to say the toshiba phones are not good for multimedia(camera,mp3,etc) mp3 is too much work to convert all that stuff when SE and Nokia phones where you can just drag and send.
Well the camera, it's not the best for a 3.2mp.. i'd choose the 903Sh or k790/k800 over this one for sure..

it supports mp3 ringtones.... it has to be 192kbps or less to playback...

Can some one tell me if this uses MP3 as ringtones? I found it that most of times the spec says one thing, but in reality it doesn't support mp3 ringtones, or there is catch to it where mp3 ringtions are supported if certain format or size is correct, or loading it by certain program or softwares.

                                thanks

the design is great actually but the camera is a cmos which is not that good.... the 5 little things are button at the top of the flipped phone.....also there are two more buttons @ the earpiece...just for playing games :P

by far, the best phone i ever tried is Siemens, but this one i bought bcoz it looked cool =D
the goods : it's cool, the stereo sounds great (unless u converted it from a bad quality mp3), it has 6 options for surround and equalizer, it has a 15 sec answering machine (but it's in japanese), battery last quite long when you listen to songs with your earpiece, can scan QR codes and can pay with your SIM (well, only common in japan i guess), can take multiple shot (but low quality pics), it records wht you write in T9 (dynamic lybrary), etc
bads : cant play mp3 ringtones, cant play mp3 directly (have to use beat engine to convert), T9 always on in writing (push and hold * to disable T9), cant make SMS more than 160 char (it changes to MMS), cant receive MMS for non-vodafone user, gps positioning is using BTS

This is probably one of the worst phones I've ever had. The phone is only good for Japanese users. It's just too complicated. Has many features, but they are only good for people in Japan/Taiwan/China. The camera quality is not very good, because it has a CMOS sensor. My sharp 902 takes better pictures than this one. And also, you have to use the Beat software that comes with it in order for you to transfer mp3 to your miniSD card.
Overall, the clamshell is pretty good, the features are good too BUT its good only for the JAPANESE market.
