Twitter completes 10 years
Popular social networking site is Twitter is celebrating its 10th birthday today.
Started on March 21, 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Noah Glass, and Biz Stone, the service has since then gone on to be wildly successful and currently has a user base of 332 million active users.
Twitter revolutionized the short status update style messages, with its 140 character limit that forces users to fit their thoughts into concise, bite size portions. The constantly updating, real-time nature of the service has made it a big hit during sporting events and a major asset during major events and emergencies. Not to mention, it also serves as a great social network to keep in touch with people all around the world, from friends and relatives to even celebrities and people whom you may never meet. Now, everyone, from actors, sportsmen, musicians, politicians, and even the Pope is on Twitter. And the list keeps growing every day.
Happy 10th anniversary to Twitter!
Starting in 🇦🇺 on 3/21 and moving across the 🌍, we thank you for 10 incredible years.
