Two-year-old Mate 10 smartphones in line for EMUI 10
Earlier this week Huawei started recruiting EMUI 10 beta testers with Mate 20 and Honor 20 smartphones. Now, the company announced on its forum that Mate 10 devices will also get the latest user interface, based on Android 10, and is now recruiting volunteers to help the developers.
Huawei list of eligible devices
Owners of Huawei Mate 10, Huawei Mate 10 Pro, and Huawei Mate 10 Porsche Design that are already running EMUI 9.1.0.321 can join in the fun. However, the phone manufacturer is looking only for Chinese devices right now - only Mate 10 units with ALP-AL00 and ALP-TL00 model numbers, BLA-AL00 (that’s the Mate 10 Pro), and BLA-TL00 (the Porsche Design-themed smartphone).
Only 2000 users for each model will be selected - 500 with the log version and 1,500 with the non-log UI. The time for recruitment has already begun and will continue until October 7. First 100 people will be announced on September 30, with the other to follow up until mid-October, since the package will be pushed in batches.

I had the same problem with my Mate 10 Pro. I fixed connecting my smartphone to the PC with Hisuite.
