Uber standalone app finally available on Android Wear 2.0

Yordan, 15 February 2017

Uber announced its app would be available for Android Wear back in 2015. Almost 2 years have passed since the announcement but with the unveiling of the first devices with Android Wear 2.0 the platform is finally ready to work on your wrist.

If you are lucky enough to already have Android Wear 2.0 smart wearable, you can download the app from the Play Store. The most fascinating thing is that Uber is standalone on your watch. This means you can book a ride, check driver’s progress, choose bookmarked destinations, compare prices and ETA and even see your own progress to the destination in real time.

Uber’s biggest competitor Lyft doesn’t have an AW 2.0 app and some time ago pulled out it’s Android Wear one from the Play Store. So if you’re up for a drive in someone else's car and you want to book it from your smartwatch - Uber is your only choice.
