Unlocked HTC One M9 gets Android Nougat, starting tonight
Taiwanese phone maker HTC tweeted on its US account that the HTC One M9 will begin receiving the new Android Nougat update starting tonight. However, that only applies to the unlocked model. HTC’s tweet also addressed the carrier versions of the Snapdragon 810-powered smartphone.

Carrier variants will begin receiving Android Nougat starting early next year. We are glad to see HTC updating the year-old flagship just several days after the HTC 10 began receiving the Nougat update early morning on Black Friday.
Android Nougat brings a few new features that are baked into Android at a system level like improved battery-saving with a tweaked Doze, multi-window, improved notifications and in-line replies. Seeing that the update is mentioned to start “late this evening” owners will have to painstakingly wait until the rollout begins by frequently checking for updates. Good luck!
