Upcoming Asus ZenPad gets the leaked render treatment

25 May, 2015

Earlier this month we told you that Asus is working on a new ZenPad-branded line of tablets, which are due to become official at Computex Taiwan at the beginning of June. Back then we got word about at least two models marking the debut of the series, and today one of them has received the full leaked render treatment.

As you can see from the images below (click the thumbnails for full size pictures), this ZenPad seems to sport dual front-facing speakers, which will hopefully be stereo.

The screen's aspect ratio is 4:3, which is all the rage in the Android world these days. Even Samsung is using it now, after Google debuted the Nexus 9 with this aspect ratio last year. And of course, Apple's iPads have always employed this particular ratio.

Most of the rear side of the tablet appears to be made from soft-touch plastic, but there's a faux-leather strip at the edge where the Asus ZenPad and Intel Inside logos are to be found. The power button sits below the volume rocker on the right of the ZenPad, while the 3.5mm headset jack is at the top.

No new specs have leaked this time around alongside the renders, but from what was previously said about the new ZenPad line, this particular tablet seems to be the 8-inch model.

This is supposed to sport 2,048x1,536 resolution, an Intel SoC (Z3560 or Z3530), 2GB of RAM, and a choice between 8, 16, 32, or 64GB of built-in storage. Joining this device should be a much lower-end 7-inch ZenPad, also powered by an Intel chipset.

Aside from the PadFone Phone-In-Tablets, ASUS is NOT known for good mobile batteries. I hope this one changes it and should be around 4000 mAH or higher
