Update gives Nokia 6700 classic free voice-guided navigation
Nokia released free voice guided navigation for their Symbian phones to lure in customers, but GPS-enabled S40 phones were left out. A new update for the Nokia 6700 classic fixes this oversight and brings a few other improvements as well.
The Nokia 6700 classic has a built-in GPS receiver and Nokia Maps, but the free navigation license is just for S60 phones, so you still had to pay if you wanted to use your 6700 classic for SatNav.
Software update sw13.10 changes that - now Nokia 6700 classic owners can enjoy free voice-guided, turn-by-turn navigation as well. The update even enables the phone to use the latest map data available (ver. 14).
The update improves on some other things as well. We often use the Nokia 6700 classic as a yardstick for 5MP cameras and Nokia claim to have improved a bit on the camera software. The new features are one-step autofocus and auto-rotation of menu text for shooting comfortably both in portrait and landscape position.
The update improves the overall stability of the Nokia 6700 classic, especially when it comes to Bluetooth audio connections.
Head to your local Nokia site and hit the support page to download the update. The update is available worldwide, except for Nokia 6700 classic phones from Orange and Telefonica Spain (they can expect the update in two weeks).
