I have had this phone for several days now and FYI, I am not rich. It costs 1/4 million dollars to raise a child in the USA so a few thousand for a phone doesn't pale in comparison when it comes to spending money for things we want.

Hard to describe this phone as luxury. Rather, it is a hand built unit of extremely strong and unique design. Mine is aluminum and weighs in at 150grams.

One thing that is not understood by most people is that Vertu does not turn down their signal strength to compete with other companies on battery life. This phone is charged once a day and has what looks like a standard Nokia BL-5C 900mA battery but in fact it is from another supplier and is about a 1100 mA unit called BL-BCV. Signal reception and voice quality for calls is unrivaled. Bluetooth music is almost unbelievable. The volume is more than adequate played through a Jabra Tag and the music player is like nothing I have heard on any Nokia or Android device.

The write-up by GSM Arena that the stick shift is sloppy was unfair. Car stick shifts run in a track, usually an "H" pattern. This joystick does not run in a + track but with a simple touch to the N,S,E,or W turns on or off bluetooth, opens a calendar, locks the screen or whatever else the user wants to do with it which in some respects makes it faster than a "touch screen" I do most work on a keyboard but use this phone for receiving and reading emails, calling, music listening and I have no concerns at all about it's durability. Everything is pretty much scratchproof and breakproof as long as the phone is slipped into it's pouch in the front trouser. And by the way, it is a true one hand phone.

        I like it

zain, 10 Jan 2011this phone is supposed to be the strongest mobile phone eve... moreApart from being a strong phon, it is also a luxury phone, exclusively for the rich, moreover the price is justified, this a f**king platinum phone, you can just buy it and keep it in the bank, you get your money back if you sell it.

lizard king, 18 Dec 2010Well paying money for unworthy thing is some habit of illit... moreMost material things in this world is priced high not because of its worth, but because its rare and its made of immaculate materials. More than being a smartphone, vertu is an accessory for the rich who can afford one. You are complaining - that's useless, you are nowhere near the status of its targets, but that's why you are complain right? If you're rich, you wouldn't even bother.

Yep, it's an art piece. Like paintings, its value isn't dictated by reason--features, quality--but rather by taste. You can have an excellent 3D, computer-assisted painting, accurate to every last detail, and yet a lazy doodle on a table napkin by a master can fetch a higher price. And BTW taste isn't about money either (though good taste usually comes at a price) - there are some noveau riche who will pay for crap. But these phones are excellent art pieces.

With the kinda price Vertu demands for it.. they cud have added any damn feature in their handsets,,so stop cribbing.... being special obviously comes at a price.. its not about value for money & practicality.. dats how the poor think. the Vertu owners are mostly success stories themselves & will live life to the fullest..ive used the signature S myself for a week...& just cudnt part with it... the kinda respect ud get when u place it on the table while u sit..is to die for... BTW For the Haters...... i know.. GRAPES ARE SOUR :-)

no doubt its good looking but that not the only reason to buy a phone.features are also important,so i its my personal point of view that buying this phone is kinda foolish thing....
