Video hands-on with Sony Xperia Sirius shows 4K video capture

17 February, 2014

The Sony Xperia Sirius D6503 is back in another video – this one is 12 minutes long and goes over a lot of new features found in Sony's latest software based on Android 4.4.2. The video starts with an overview of the hardware.

Some of the most interesting new features are found in the camera app. By the looks of it, the Xperia Sirius will use the same 20.7MP sensor, but it can now record 4K video. It can also do slo-mo effects with high-speed video (Timeshift), shoot cinemagraphs, duplicate moving objects, simulate bokeh and scan documents to JPG/PDF formats.

The interface itself has changes too – there's a special "simple" homescreen that uses big text and large icons and you can control what icons show up in the status bar.

Sony has also enabled a variety of motion gestures, including tap to wake, answer or dial by putting the phone up to your ear and reject a call by shaking the phone. The 5.2" of the Xperia Sirius can also detect touches by fingers in gloves.

There are other interesting things to be seen in the video, like the custom sound settings – support for high-quality audio out via USB, support for noise-cancelling headsets, a "What's New" app and more.

The Sony D6503 codenamed Sirius is expected to be the Xperia Z1 successor (presumably dubbed Z2, but that may be inaccurate). Sony is expected to unveil the new phone at the Mobile World Congress.

Thanks, Anurag, for sending this in!

Do you have to imply such lame fanboy contradiction with your reply? Why? there could be numerous reasons. To save time, money, work load, there was something about the sensors they liked, who knows. Either way what has happened did.
