both phones also make use of different technologies
xiaomi has a graphene enhanced li-on battery
vivo has a standard li-po battery
the li-on enhanced with graphene is more dense than a standard li-po
all of this explains the difference in capacity but they're split cells

A 4000 mAh battery is considered small for such a big display, unless you make things work WELL at the software side, but I doubt they can do that, Sony for example can do it.

This is ac... moreBecause it has huge camera sensor sizes and optical zoom camera also takes lots of space that's why it is usual for pro models like iqoo 5pro, Note 20 ultra,Mi10 Ultra and etc to have less battery than their base models

What happens is that when you increase the charging speed you have to divide the battery
Like in phones with 65 watt charging there are two batteries that get charged at the same time
So I assume that when the phone is charging at 120 watts there is probably 4 batteries in the phone
You're always going to need space in the phone between each battery so the capacity will shrink a bit
And some space is also taken up by the battery charge protector
