vivo and iQOO announce Android 16-based OriginOS 6 Preview Program

Sagar, 27 September 2025

vivo will introduce the Android 16-based OriginOS 6 on October 10 in China, with a global debut, including in India, set for October 15. That's exciting news, as OriginOS has been exclusive to China for years, while vivo and iQOO devices outside China run Funtouch OS. The upcoming vivo X300 series and iQOO 15 will boot OriginOS 6, and while we are unlikely to receive its rollout schedule for older devices before next month, vivo and iQOO's Indian branches have announced the OriginOS 6 Preview Program for their local users.

Both brands stated that registration for OriginOS 6 in India will open on September 29, without providing details about the registration process or the complete list of devices eligible for the program.

However, the use of #vivoXSeries in vivo India's X post suggests that the preview will be initially available only for the X Series smartphones, with devices from other lineups getting a taste of OriginOS 6 preview later. (Update: vivo X200 Pro will be the first vivo device in India to get OriginOS 6 preview)

As for iQOO, Shankar Singh, DGM of Product Management at iQOO India, revealed that the iQOO 13 will be the first iQOO device to receive the OriginOS 6 preview.

Expect more details about the OriginOS 6 Preview Program on September 29.
