vivo V15 Pro hands-on review

High-resolution main sensor and a sharp pop-up selfie cam

Arguably the most impressive bits about the vivo V15 Pro are its cameras. The back holds a huge 1/2" 48MP sensor with Quad Bayer filter, an 8MP ultra-wide angle lens and a 5MP depth sensor. Quad Bayer means that the main snapper is essentially a 12MP large sensor camera with real-time HDR and great low-light performance.

The 32MP selfie camera works in much the same way only it's sensor is somewhat smaller than the main one. Still for a selfie snapper that's easily one of the largest sensors out there - among mid-rangers and flagships alike.

Sample photos

We took a few sample photos during the day and also a few night shots. We did a test run of the dedicated Night mode as well.

Selfies and portraits

The pop-up selfie camera follows the same path as the main one by combining four adjacent pixels into one. The sensor itself has 32 million pixels but it outputs images at 8MP and at that resolution they are looking impressively sharp and with little noise.

The portrait mode did go overboard with the skin softening effect essentially erasing the resolution advantage of the camera. On the upside the edge detection was spot on.

the camera result is good for the price, but not for pixel peeper. it only good for small screen, not for zooming in. other than that, this is a terrific phone..
