vivo V40 and V40 Pro launch on August 7

vivo's V40 has been official in some parts of the world for around a month, and it's now getting ready to land in India, where it's officially launching on August 7. But it won't be alone - it will be joined by the V40 Pro, which will be making its world debut in India. The V40 Pro recently visited Geekbench with the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chipset at the helm. The non-Pro V40 goes with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 instead.

The V40 and V40 Pro both have a 5,500 mAh battery with 80W wired charging support (and vivo claims they're the slimmest in India to pack this kind of punch), and 50 MP cameras all-round. While the V40 has to make do with two on the back (a main and an ultrawide), the V40 Pro adds a 2x optical zoom (and 50x digital zoom) telephoto using the Sony IMX816 sensor. Both phones feature a 50 MP selfie snapper and IP68 certification for dust and water resistance.

The Pro will be offered in Ganges Blue and Lotus Purple. The vanilla model might go for these colors too, it's not very clear from vivo's teaser website that covers both devices.

I like everything about the phone except for the fact that it's not using a flat-screen panel.

With only 2 year update policy.

We NEED stereo speakers, vivo! At least they finally moved on from the Dimensity 8200. It's not bad but they used it for 3 generations in a row. The vivo V40 Pro makes the Oppo Reno 12 Pro seem terrible.
