As a fan of the latest top of the line Vivo series, I'm afraid they will be clearly inferior to another phone in camera for the first time since 2022.

No, it is because the main lens is 35mm f1.6. To fit in on top of a 1inch sensor, the camera module would be HUGE! Nubia made a prototype of a 35mm on top of a 1". It was very tall.

My guess is because they are upgrading the UW camera sensor, and so they want to balance the costs out by downgrading the main sensor. And also maybe they want UW and main cameras to be consistent in quality, to make transitions seamless.
