vivo X300 Ultra to use two 200MP sensors from Sony, one for the main and one for the periscope

A few days ago, leakster Digital Chat Station revealed that the vivo X300 Ultra will be the world’s first phone with two 200MP cameras, now the leakster is back with some clarifications on the cameras in question.

The main module will feature the IMX09E, while the periscope will use the IMX09A. We’re not entirely sure what the differences between the E and A sensors are, but DCS goes on to detail the E version (which goes in the main cam).

It will be a 1/1.12” sensor with 0.7µm pixels fabbed on a 22nm node. It will feature “Hybrid Frame HDR” technology, which seems to be a marketing name for the combination of DCG and VS: Dual Conversion Gain and Voltage Scaling. The former uses two different conversion gains for each pixel (one to handle darker areas, the other brighter areas). The latter is a similar technique for improving dynamic range.

All told, the IMX09E will have over 100dB of dynamic range, improved full-well capacity and higher sensitivity. Additionally, it will offer 2x and 4x in-sensor lossless zoom and 2x2 OCL (“on-chip lens”), which improves autofocus performance.

As for the periscope, it will use a new lens assembly that combines glass and plastic elements. The vivo X300 Ultra will use a 50MP ultra-wide camera, completing the trio on the back, the selfie camera should be a 50MP module with autofocus.

The vivo X300 Pro will use a customized 200MP sensor from Samsung for its periscope instead of a Sony sensor like the Ultra. It will probably feature a 50MP Sony LYT-828 1/1.3” sensor for its main camera.
