64-bit octa-core Vivo X5S now released

12 January, 2015

Vivo is launching the X5S smartphone in China today. The successor to the Vivo X5 keeps the same slim 6.3mm aluminum body, but is quicker due to a sparkling new set of internals.

The Vivo X5S sports the 64-bit MediaTek MT6752 chipset with an octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU and 2GB of RAM. It also comes with 4G LTE connectivity and 16GB of onboard storage, but no microSD card slot.

At the front, there's a 5" IPS 720p display with a 5MP front-facing camera above it. We quite like the dual-tone design at the back, as well, where we find a 13MP snapper with LED flash. Underneath the unibody design, the X5S draws power from a 2,250mAh battery.

Starting tomorrow, the Vivo X5S will sell for $482 (CNY 2,998). Its larger, 4.75mm thin brother, the Vivo X5Max costs $525 and is also available for purchase now.
