It's just that it's a trend these days that they try to ditch the slot by saying "it saves space" which btw I'm not sure How Much space in the phone it saves anyway 🙄, but i think they do it so that people buy a higher storage option of the phone

they put side-mounted fingerprint in a right side
& also they moved Volume Button from right to left side. so ur finger will not get interfere with volume button when u touch the fingerprint
