Week 46 in review: Samsung's Galaxy S10, Exynos 9820, and foldable phone in the spotlight

Ivan, 19 November 2018

Samsung stole the show this week, dominating the news feeds with its upcoming products.

The main story was the Galaxy S10 and more specifically the most and least expensive of members of the trio. According to industry insiders, the top model Galaxy S10 will have three cameras, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner and a new Infinity-O display with a small cutout for the front camera, and thinner bezels.

We also got word that the entry-level Galaxy S10 model will have a plain side-mounted fingerprint scanner, instead of a fancy in-display one. It will also have an Infinity-O display but a flat one, not curved. We also may have got a glimpse of the Galaxy S10's design thanks to a patent filing.

All three Galaxy S10's will be powered by the Exynos 9820, which was announced this week. Some models might use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8150, which crushed AnTuTu this week - in any case, the Galaxy S10 will be a powerful device.

Moving away from the Galaxy S10 but not Samsung altogether - the foldable Galaxy F is really picking up interest. We saw Samsung's upcoming marvel of a smartphone in both a concept video and static 3D renders. It will come in March for a whopping $1,770 price.

In other news Samsung, the Korean company is about to unlock the option for adoptable storage in its Android Pie update. If you're unfamiliar with it, adoptable storage allows you to choose a microSD card as the main storage of your device.

Finally moving away from Samsung-related news, Nokia will hold an event on December 5 in Dubai at which it could show up to three new devices. We hope to finally see the penta-cam Nokia 9 but we'll settle for the also overdue Nokia 8.1.

Google released the final version of its magical Night Sight for Pixel 3 and 3 XL. It allows the phones to see in the dark - okay, not really - but it is really impressive and we gave the shooting mode a thorough test.

And if you wanted to buy a Pixel 3/3 XL but were holding off until the first discounts kicked in - they did, more details on them in the link below.

That were the main stories of the week. See you here in exactly seven days!

Agreed

I have similar feeling. That is also why now I feel sorry to spend money on any gimmick until something on whole new level is out.

Patience, young Padawan On a serious note though, I feeling like we're close to the real cool stuff. We just gotta wait.
