Weekend poll: Sony Xperia X, Hot or Not?

Peter, 20 May, 2016

Sony officially announced that the Xperia Z series is no more and the unofficial talk is that the other Xperia lines have been cut. Only the new Xperia X will live on. In a way, Sony has come full circle as the Xperia X1 was the first to bear that name. But did Sony throw out the baby with the bathwater?

The Sony Xperia X is our first full-time encounter with the X series (we saw the XA and X Performance shortly at MWC and we did a preview of the XA Ultra). And as the saying goes, you only have one chance to make a good first impression.

The phone very much looks and feels like it's a Z-series phone, a slightly smaller Z5 perhaps (it's 5" vs. 5.2"). It has the same great screen and stereo speakers, but what you don't see with the naked eye is that the water resistance has been stripped.

On the back, the Xperia X boasts the 23MP camera with Exmor RS sensor, G Lens and Bionz procession, just like the Xperia Z5 had. Almost - again something is missing, this time, it's the 4K video capture.

To look at the pricing, you'd think the Sony Xperia X is a flagship (you can get a flagship from Samsung, LG, Huawei or others for the same kind of money). To look at the specs, you'd realize the X is a premium mid-ranger.

So, what does our audience think - Sony Xperia X, Hot or Not? Will the ones voting Hot buy it immediately? And the Not votes, was it because of price?

worst marketing strategy Period!

Lol I never hoped Sony should quit from smartphone market, so stop your nonsense. Infact Sony smartphones are a flop.

Sony is doing all their best on smartphone development, but I don't know why some of the people from the competitors still hope Sony quit their smartphone market. So stop talking nonsense, back to development!
