Weekly poll: Motorola G,X Play and Style & OnePlus 2 - Hot or Not

George, 02 August, 2015

A truly exciting week is behind us, and we witnessed two of the most eagerly anticipated smartphone launches of the year - the Motorola Moto G (3rd gen) and the OnePlus 2. And as if that wasn't enough, Motorola went out and announced not one, but two Moto X models higher up its lineup.

Now, if you believe the manufacturers, the Moto devices have best-in-class features and price, while the OnePlus 2 is the killer of yet unborn 2016 flagships. That's their marketing departments talking though, and you're certainly entitled to your own opinion, which we'd like to hear.

Motorola Moto X Style - Hot or Not

Motorola's finest of late, the Moto X Style comes with Qualcomm's second best chip inside, and boasts the world's third finest phone camera (or so says DxO). A QHD 5.7-inch display is keeping with the large diagonal high ppi trends, while the front-facing camera/flash/speakers promise plenty of fun. Add to that the $399 price tag and some 126 possible body options, and Motorola looks to have a winner. What do you reckon?

Motorola Moto X Play - Hot or Not

Moto X on a budget, the Moto X Play shaves a fifth of an inch off the screen size and opts for FullHD resolution, which coupled with the generous 3,630mAh battery should break endurance records. The headline 21MP camera is borrowed from the Style, though the Snapdragon 615 limits video recording to 1080p. Still a rather hot package for $299, don't you think?

Motorola Moto G (3rd gen) - Hot or Not

The original Moto G stormed the scene 2 years ago offering plenty of smartphone at a bargain price, but the second generation failed to top bang-for-buck charts. Will this 3rd generation fare better with its improved cameras and larger battery for the same $180 price? Or is a single gig of RAM and 8GB no longer acceptable, and the $220 for the 2GB/16GB version make it sound not so hot?

OnePlus 2 - Hot or Not

Another contender in the flagship-on-a-budget category, the OnePlus 2 retains the 5.5-inch FullHD display of the predecessor, adds a fingerprint sensor, and brings the chipset up to date. The microSD slot has been omitted again, and do the 16GB and 64GB options really leave you a choice other than the $389/€399 64GB model?

Moto X Style doesn't impress you? What are you, Steve Jobs? If someone finds Moto G impressive then I don't see how the person can not like the flagship.
