Weekly poll results: the Redmi 10 would be more popular if it gets a price cut

The Redmi 10 is not off to a great start, judging by last week’s poll. Many have an issue with its pricing, which starts at just south of $200 and that is if the 4/64GB version is in stock. Which isn’t always the case, especially if you have your heart set on a particular color.

People have come to have expectations at this price point. For example, the eMMC storage didn’t go over well with fans, not when they can have much faster UFS at the same cost. Even Xiaomi’s own Poco M3 Pro has UFS 2.2.

And not having 5G connectivity is starting to be viewed as a disadvantage, even in this price range. 15% of voters say so. A sub-$200 5G phone with UFS is not that difficult to find in 2021, so these are legitimate complaints.

Still, the Redmi 10 earned an excellent 127 hour Endurance rating in our review. And the Redmi 10 Prime, which arrived earlier this week with a 6,000 mAh battery, will likely score even higher. However, this version seems exclusive to India.

The bright, color accurate 90Hz display also left a positive impression, though the Helio G88 wasn’t as smooth as we would have liked while running the UI. While the camera department was heavily advertised with that 50 MP main sensor, it proved to be a less than stellar performer during the day and at night.

Perhaps the biggest issue was availability – the AliExpress store where the Redmi 10 first launched ran out of most memory/color combos pretty quickly and some still aren’t back in stock. And that store doesn’t ship to India, though the Prime fills that gap nicely.

Anyway, back to the issue of pricing. Only about a quarter of voters are interested in buying a Redmi 10, though that can go up to nearly half of voters, if there’s a good discount.
