Weekly poll results: the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE needs a price cut
The results are in from last week’s poll and they are not encouraging – most voters believe that the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is overpriced. How come?
Well, part of the problem is that the phone comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage as standard. While you can’t have more RAM, you could get 256GB storage. But since 128GB is pretty tight these days, people are looking at the 256GB price tag, not the 128GB one. That makes the FE feel expensive, especially when compared to mid-rangers from other brands, which start at 8/256GB or even 12/256GB.
It’s not just other brands too, with a bit of patience and shopping around, you can get a great deal on Samsung’s own Galaxy S24+ for around the same price as the S24 FE. There is an argument to be made that the FE will get its own deals and discounts down the road, but it just doesn’t look competitively priced at launch.
That isn’t necessarily true everywhere, some commenters report great deals on the Galaxy S24 FE in their region. That said, chances of the FE becoming a global hit are slim.
Interestingly, we saw multiple commenters lamenting the end of the higher-tier Galaxy A phones, the A70 and A80 series. In a way, the S24 FE fills that spot, but again, the pricing is more S-series than A-series and that is an issue.
Moving on from the pricing, some are unhappy with the size of the Galaxy S24 FE – it’s the largest FE yet with a 6.7” display. And the display diagonal isn’t the whole story, the S24+ also has a 6.7” display, but is physically smaller thanks to slimmer bezels. Here, again, the A-series could have helped to offer more variety.
Going through the comments, we saw a lot of discussion over chipsets. Now that we have benchmarked the Exynos 2400e, we have to say that it’s a pretty solid chip, even against the likes of the Dimensity 9300+ and the Apple A18. Expect more details from the S24 FE soon – in the meantime, Samsung could think about extending the pre-order promos (the phone officially started shipping this Thursday, October 3).

Oh, I'm just observing the market and comparing regional prices. Even with rising cost of living over the past two decades the Gulf is still a good place to buy a digital device. I like my S23, especially its small size.
