WhatsApp launches AI-powered Writing Help
WhatsApp is launching Writing Help. This is an AI feature that will, as the name implies, help you compose your messages. It will suggest text for you in various styles - professional, funny, or supportive. You can of course either select any suggestion or ignore it.
To use this, when writing a message in any one-on-one or group chat, tap the new pencil icon. Writing Help is built on Private Processing technology, which "allows you to leverage Meta AI to generate a response without Meta or WhatsApp ever reading your message or the suggested re-writes", the company promises.
WhatsApp says Private Processing has been stress-tested and validated together with "peers in the security community". The feature is optional and off by default, so if you don't trust Meta's privacy promises, you can simply choose not to use it.
Writing Help is rolling out in English starting in the US and "several other countries". It will arrive in other languages and countries "later this year".

End to end encrypted. Not even Whatsapp can read your messages, but hey! Our AI can read them.
