WhatsApp's latest Android beta gets Dark Mode
WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world right now, but it still lacks some useful features that are present on competing apps like Telegram - one of them being Dark Mode. WhatsApp is working on Dark Mode since last September. We even got a glimpse of what the Dark Mode would look like on WhatsApp for iOS. And now, we are happy to report that the company has started testing this much-requested feature on its Android app as well.
WhatsApp has begun testing Dark Mode on its beta app for Android bearing version 2.19.82. However, as this feature is still under development, it's not yet available for everyone. But thanks to the screenshots posted by WABetaInfo, we get to see how the Android app would look like with Dark Mode turned on.
Dark Mode on WhatsApp for Android
Unfortunately, we don't get to see what the chat screens will look like, and the reason for that is WhatsApp has only implemented Dark Mode in the Settings page so far. We hope WhatsApp will have implemented Dark Mode across the entire Android app by the time it's released.
Furthermore, the Dark Mode for Android app is also a bit different than its iOS counterpart which is pitch black making it OLED friendly. Android, on the other hand, gets a dark grey color which could make it less useful on smartphones with OLED panels.

The best option would be to include both features without removing one or the other essentially giving people more choice - which everyone obviously wants - more choices.

Windows phone had dark mode, big deal, it had nothing else to brag about. The apps were useless. Tried lumia 950xl, sent it back after a day, what a pos.
