Windows 10 version of Alcatel Idol 4S leaks for T-Mobile

The Alcatel IDOL 4S’ hardware is already going to be featured in two variants. The Alcatel Idol 4S proper, the BlackBerry DTEK60 (as it is manufactured by parent company of Alcatel: TCL), and now the Alcatel Idol 4S is getting a new Windows 10 flavor.

WinFuture’s Roland Quandt showed us a photo of the purported packaging on a T-Mobile branded package. The Windows 10 version is simply called “Alcatel Idol 4S with Windows 10”. The box shows the same VR headset that the proper Idol 4S comes with, though it’ll be interesting to see how VR works on Windows 10, as well as how Windows 10 will affect the battery life when compared with its Android counterpart.

Then again, there are some rumored differences between the Windows 10 version and the regular Android variant. The Windows 10 Idol 4S would feature a Snapdragon 820 (just like the BlackBerry DTEK60) paired with 4GB of RAM, an upgrade over the Android version’s Snapdragon 652 with 3GB of RAM, still a very capable setup.

While we saw differences in the camera of the DTEK60 and Idol 4S, we could see a similar upgrade in the Windows 10 version, as well as the decision to use USB-C on the DTEK60 over the microUSB that is featured on the Idol 4S. Seeing as the last Lumia phones featured USB-C ports, we could expect to see the same on the Windows 10 variant.

The 5.5 inch QHD display could likely make its way here, as well as the dual-directional speakers and rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. There is no word on pricing or availability. Also, no announcement has yet been made by either Alcatel or T-Mobile.

I'm hoping for the unlocked variant on Alcatel's or Microsoft's webstore to show up at some point.

Most folks don't realize that about them. When Microsoft moved to W10 / W10M the uwp changed the way developers look at everything, and in many ways simplified it.
