Windows Phone 7 web browser appears on video, gets compared

24 August, 2010

It's not like we haven't seen other videos demonstrating the upcoming Windows Phone 7 (or at least some other pre-release versions of it) but this one definitely caught our attention since it shows how the WP7 web browser competes against iPhone's Safari browser and the one preloaded on Froyo-powered devices.

Well, like before this is still a pre-release version of the platform we are looking at (as for the WP7 device from the video, the LG GW910 Panther, might even not make it to the market at all) but it's ripe enough to give us an idea what to expect from the final version of what Windows Mobile will turn into (read: Windows Phone 7). And here is the video itself:

As you see, the interface is pretty user-friendly. There are tabs allowing you to have several web sites loading at the same time, pages load quick enough (the speed is comparable to the rivals') and zooming, panning as well as scrolling are smooth enough too.

There is no support for Flash or even for HTML5 yet which is kind of sad but the specs on the WP7 browser are not final yet.

Just 6 tabs isn't really what i expected. Opera Mobile and Mini allows you to open dozens of tabs, only amount of available RAM limits you. But I think Opera will manage to make Opera Mobile for WP7, though it will take a year at least. Opera Mo...
