Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro are getting 3 OS updates, 4 years of security patches

The Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro are going global today and they arrive with several commitments that will make fans feel better about long-term ownership. The cheaper Xiaomi 12X is also getting some assurances, but not the full suite.

Xiaomi is promising 3 Android OS updates and 4 years of security patches for the 12 and 12 Pro. Note that both launch with Android 12 and MIUI 13 and both are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The 12X, which is powered by the older Snapdragon 870, did not get such a commitment.

All three models are getting 2 years of warranty – something that is standard in the EU, for example, but not everywhere. Even better, buyers will can get the screen on a Xiaomi 12, 12 Pro or 12X repaired for free during the first 6 months of ownership.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro gets the best protection of them all with international warranty in over 50 markets worldwide. For example, you can buy a 12 Pro in Spain and get it serviced in Malaysia, all under warranty.
