Xiaomi 14 Ultra could introduce a wider variable aperture to its main camera
Xiaomi launched the 14 and 14 Pro smartphones with three 50 MP cameras, but left the Ultra member for a later announcement. According to a new report, it will feature four 50 MP cameras, and faster f/1.6-f/4.0 variable aperture on the main sensor.
A variable aperture solution is nothing new to Xiaomi. The Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro have a two-step lens that can toggle between f/1.4 and f/4.0, and while the f/1.6 stop on the Ultra is slightly slower it will likely make up with a much larger sensor. It will also improve on the f/1.9 on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra.
Previous reports pointed to a Sony LYT-900 sensor for the Xiaomi 14 Ultra main camera. This rumor, combined with a new Xiaomi feature that allows the lens to change during the video, depending on how much light is getting onto the sensor, could dramatically improve the camera capabilities of the Ultra.
