Xiaomi 14T review
Android 14 with HyperOS 1.04
The Xiaomi 14T boots Android 14 with HyperOS 1.04. We have already encountered HyperOS on numerous Xiaomi devices, and you can read our dedicated article or watch the video below to get a taste. As for updates, Xiaomi promises 4 years of major OS updates and 5 years of security patches.
HyperOS sure looks and behaves a lot like the MIUI of old, and while we don't doubt there are under-the-hood improvements, long-time Xiaomi phone users will be right at home. There are subtle differences, like the slightly flatter design, the more rounded edges for a lot of the design elements and the new design of the control center.
Some things have gotten more intuitive, like the multi-window implementation, where the buttons are now more self-explanatory. That's not entirely the case with the quick settings, so it's nice that there's an option to enable text labels (off by default). You can no longer opt out of the Control center, though - that's still available on the phones that had it pre-HyperOS, but not on those that launched with the new software.
The Xiaomi 14T also supports some AI tricks, even if some are not pre-installed but available for download for free. You can get AI Image, which also incorporates AI Portraits and AI Magic Erase Pro.
Xiaomi will push AI Interpreter, AI Notes, AI Film, AI Subtitles (now in beta) with an upcoming software update.
Google Gemini is onboard. You can ask Gemini a lot of stuff to do and have whole conversations, even - be it about interviews or book/essay ideas, you name it. It can give you ideas on what to cook based on a photo of your fridge contents, you can ask for book or painting ideas.
Gemini can also create images for you, which is neat.
Circle to Search is also coming soon with an update in October, though Google Lens is available right now.
Performance and benchmarks
The Xiaomi 14T runs on the MediaTek 8300 Ultra chipset, an update over the 8200 Ultra on the 13T. It packs an octa-core processor with newer and more powerful cores - 1x3.35 GHz Cortex-A715 + 3x3.20 GHz Cortex-A715 + 4x2.20 GHz Cortex-A510.
There is an improved GPU, too, now it is a Mali-G615-MC6, up from Mali-G610-MC5.
The chip uses LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.0 storage. We have the 12GB+512GB version.
And now, let's see some benchmark scores!
The performance of the 14T seems to have gotten closer to the Xiaomi 13T Pro's and that is nice. Furthermore, the scores are on par with the scores of the phones considered as current flagship killers.
The stability of the Dimensity 8300 Ultra chipset inside the Xiaomi 14T is good. The CPU scored 66% stability, while the GPU retained 69% of its maximum performance.
The Xiaomi 14T never got hot under those stress tests, just warm.
The Xiaomi 14T performance jump over the 13T is not that large, it just brings newer generation hardware with a more advanced instruction set and features. It won't make sense to get the 14T if you have the 13T in pocket, but it will surely impress with its oomph under the hood. And that is plenty enough.

Overall it's a good all-around phone if you can get it for around 400€. Battery life is not that great for 5000mah and camera transitions are bad (maybe future updates can fix things). Performance and display are great while the phone is not ove...

14T 512 GB in my country is around 450euros after conversion. But with promos, discounts, voucher etc you can get it for as low as 400 euros. And it comes with a 67w charging brick!

"very good for an ultrawide camera" has me switch off instantly! Ultrawides capture 4x the area at the same distance as the main cams and MUST therefore be able to capture 4x the detail! This is easily done with a much bigger sensor and...
